You don’t have to be perfect… (Excuses to not do a portrait session)

Hey guys! It’s Lindsey. I don’t know why it’s so hard for me to do this. Well I know why. It’s because I think that everything has to be perfect in order for it to happen. I’m like, my makeup isn’t perfect. My hair is just in braids. Whatever. I just need to do it. So here I am on my blog to talk to you guys. Because you know what? We aren’t always perfect. I think that’s our holdup in not booking a photography session. We are like, I need to lose 10 more pounds or I need to get my hair done or whatever. But you know what? I’m good for 10 pounds in posing alone. And I do have a few professional hair and makeup people that can make you look amazing. I’m telling you. You need to stop the excuses!  Every single woman is absolutely gorgeous and we need to showcase that.

Also here’s a major thing. Mother’s Day is coming up on Sunday. Sunday guys! What the heck? I keep thinking I’ll do something this afternoon. Or tomorrow. And now even though I’ve been saying this since Sunday it’s Wednesday and I’m just now getting on to talk to you. Have you been putting off your Mother’s Day present? How cool would it be to give her an ultimate pampering session and photo shoot? Believe me, this is one that she won’t forget. So whether it be your own mother, the mother of your children, or let’s face it, ourselves, let’s treat yo self!

I have a studio here in Kennesaw that I have to use. Technically I need to book up hours before the 15th. That’s next Monday. Can I get 5 of you guys to sign up right now for a session? The session fee is $250.  That is literally my cost to do a session with you guys.  It covers the studio rental and the hair and makeup artist.  But here’s the thing.  We need to stop just trying to get digitals.  You need to order prints and I’ll tell you why.  We need to exist in photos.  I can hear your excuses.

  1. I don’t need prints.  I’m just going to put them on Facebook anyway!  I understand.  I’ve been there.  Back in the day, we made this crazy elaborate slideshow for Sommer’s birth and uploaded them to Xanga.  Yes, Xanga.  Do you guys remember it?  Well, it got bought out and transferred to WordPress.  And you know what?  All those photos that I put on there?  They got deleted from the system.
  2. But what about a CD or a jump drive?  You know what?  All of my CDs that we used to give people.  Scratched up, shoved in a drawer and unable to use.
  3. But what if I upload them to the cloud?  That’s not going away.  That’s actually where I put our wedding photos so we didn’t lose them.  I just pulled up and this is what came up:

Moving on from Picasa

We’ve decided to retire Picasa in order to focus on a single photo service in Google Photos – a new, smarter photo app that works seamlessly across mobile and the web.

So yeah.  That was just from 5 years ago.  We need to do better than this.

We need photos that our children can look back on and remember what we looked like.  We need photos that our grandchildren, our great grandchildren can remember us by.  What kind of price tag can we put on this?  Well, I can tell you my prices, but I would love to talk to you about it in person or even over the phone, honestly.  My collection of 10 images is $1250 and goes up from there.  My 8×10 is $150 and goes up from there.  Each print that you purchase comes with a digital copy.  We can meet and you can choose your images once your session is done.

Come on guys.  I want to do this.  You need to do this.  What are you waiting for?  That extra 10 pounds?  For everything to be perfect?  We need to get out of our perfectionistic mindset and just do it.

Email me at portraits@ or call me at 404-721-4398.  I would love to book you in right away!
